We have a clear strategy for addressing environmental issues that affect our businesses and for developing products that protect the environment and improve safety in the work place.

Our products

Our solutions use less resources, reduces waste and cuts CO2 emissions – so we can create a more sustainable environment locally, nationally and globally. In fact, our fixtures have helped to reduce 1.1 billion kwh of energy consumption, the equivalent of removing 166,000 passenger vehicles from the road for 1 year.

While we help customers meet their sustainability goals, the best-in-class efficiency of our robust products leads to lower costs and higher return on investment. We also achieve sustainability through innovation, helping organisations to adapt to a more connected future through pioneering solutions.

Carbon footprint

Our strategy is to operate close to our end markets so that the environmental impact of our operations is relatively low compared with other sectors. Our environmental policy is approved by the Board. We have an environmental management system (“EMS”) certified to ISO 14001 across our European, Asian and North American businesses. Certified sites are located in Denmark, US, Mexico and Malaysia. The EMS includes procedures for the management of waste, trade effluent, hazardous substances, environmental processes and procedures, enforcement actions, and compliance with regulatory frameworks and legislation.

We are committed to raising employee awareness on environmental issues and the effects of their activities through Company-wide promotion and communication. We recognise that simple, small measures taken in the workplace can have a large impact on reducing environmental damage.

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions

As well as helping our customers to reduce their impact on the environment, it is also a focus for our own efforts and we monitor our GHG emissions. We not only comply with local environmental laws, but also ensure that the environment is a consideration in major operational decisions. We report annually on our GHG emissions and actively look to reduce these and other environmental effects year on year.

Our emissions have reduced as we continue to focus on our energy reduction initiatives. The table below sets out Dialight’s emissions for 2016 and 2015 in accordance with the Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Directors’ Report) Regulations 2013.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

The Group has two zero-waste-to-landfill sites: one in Australia and one in Denmark. We work with our manufacturing partner and suppliers to identify recycling opportunities. All administrative offices have a recycling policy to help reduce waste-to-landfill.

The Group will continue to report its environmental performance in the Annual Report and Accounts.
